Completed studies (B. Com) CTA) at Wits University in 1972 and passed CA(SA) Final Qualifying Examination in 1973.


Relocated to Israel in 1975 and worked as a Certified Public Accountant until return to Johannesburg in 1981-lived in Ramat Hasharon and then Raanana.


Partner (and managing partner) at Grant Thornton South Africa (formerly Kessel Feinstein) from 1981 to 1997, during which time also active member of the Board of Grant Thornton International based in Chicago.


In 1998, left the accounting profession to establish a private equity fund, which was sold to a banking and finance group in 2005, at which I was appointed an Executive Director until retirement in 2012.


Now active on non-executive basis in various roles, primarily associated with venture capital and investment advisory.


Along the way, served on SA Jewish Board of Education in 1980's, Chairman of South African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (2003-2009) and currently member of board of both Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra.


FAMILY


Married Simone in 1972 and been a great joy to have a shared school experience at KDHS, at which our three children were educated, two of whom also married classmates from same year of study!


We live in Birdhaven, Johannesburg and our children (Loren 42, Idan 39 and Terri 35), all married and living in close proximity- each has 2 children ranging in age from 15 months to 12 years (5 boys and 1 girl). Those of school going age are pupils at King David--Linksfield and Victory Park.


OTHER INTERESTS


Passionate interests in grandchildren, road cycling, wine, rugby, classical music and keeping fit.


Have competed inter alia several Cape Argus Cycle tours, cycling/wining tours in France and Italy and followed the Springbok rugby team around the world, including World Cup tournaments on various continents.
